ABOUT RYAN

I am an 18 year old living in Scotland who loves mountain biking. Having raced since I was 9 moving my way up through the ranks on the national circuit, 2022 will see me transferring into the Elite category. For the 2021 season I joined the newly formed UCI MTB Team 555 Gravity Racing and took on my first year racing on the World Cup Circuit as a 2nd Year Junior rider. My goal is to become a professional elite athlete racing at the highest level in the World Cups. I understand what it takes to achieve this dream and have worked extremely hard over the last few years to move closer to the top. I finished the 2021 season as one of the top Junior riders in Scotland and the UK whilst gaining top 15 at the DH World Championships - the goals I had set myself at the beginning of the year.

Outwith racing I have successfully achieved the UKCC level 1 Cycle Coaching qualification and was one of the youngest in the UK to do so at age 15. I am currently working towards my level 2 qualification where my aim is to progress into an mtb specific award. I coach at Falkirk Junior Bike Club, age groups 4-12, which has over 150 riders competing in various disciplines including DH. In addition I was successful in being chosen as one of nine young people to be on the first ever Scottish Cycling Young People's Panel where I used my DH racing experience and achievements to encourage more young riders to enter the sport.
