I enjoy producing content and trying to improve my social media presence. I see it as an integral part of my job to promote myself, my team and the brands I am lucky enough to represent. I find the algorithms a challenge and I am keen to learn more in order to improve my reach. I am excited to work with NetPerformance this coming year.

ABOUT DOUGLAS

I have been riding a bicycle since the age of three, this led to riding a mini trials bike and learning many bike handling skills – I still enjoy riding trials and freestyle BMX. I completed my first mini-downhill race at the age of 7 (U10s), finishing second. The same season I raced the mini-downhill final held in Fort William on the same weekend as the UCI World Cup where I was able to meet all my downhill heros which sparked my enthusiasm to race downhill and I dreamt of racing a World Cup in Fort William one day.

I raced the mini-downhill series and from the age of 12 the Scottish Downhill series where I have always done well. I also raced the British National Series races held in Scotland, the remainder were held in Wales which were unfortunately impossible to get to from the north of Scotland whilst still attending school on Friday and Monday.

This season (2021) we set up a new UCI MTB Downhill team, 555 Gravity Racing, which in itself has been a huge learning experience! Learning how the UCI works, getting a rider contract, designing a custom race jersey, planning travel and accommodation etc. Not to mention travelling around Europe racing over the summer, particularly during the pandemic has been a brilliant, eye-opening experience and motivated me to train hard over the winter ready for next season.

I have recently bought a moto cross bike which I see as very useful cross training, learning new but transferable skills – a fun way of productive winter training in the North of Scotland.
